Galways Latin Quarter
The Spanish Arch Hotel is at the centre of Galway's Latin Quarter. A highlight for many visitors to Galway City is strolling around the medieval pedestrianised streets. The area is characterised by buskers, boutiques, unique shops, cafes, bars & restaurants. It has rightfully earned its unofficial title as ‘The Latin Quarter'. Well, now it's official and with support from Failte Ireland & Galway City Council, the area will now adopt the name ‘The Latin Quarter'.
A visit to Galway is never complete without spending some time in the Latin Quarter. It is a magical place. From day- time to night- time it is buzzing with people who are enjoying what it has to offer.
Its retails shops are largely locally owned and it boasts some of Galway's best loved pubs and restaurants. In a decade where the streetscapes of Galway have become synonymous with big brand globalisation, this initiative embraces the concept of ‘localisation'.
The businesses in the area are now coming together to work as a team. Our mission is to manage and maintain this area of Galway as ‘a quality leisure and tourist destination'. We are also promoting business in the area through our own brochures, website and other initiatives. We are very grateful for all the support that we have received from our suppliers and partners alike, without their support this initiative would be impossible.
